Homelessness Assistance

Homelessness Assistance provides rent, security deposit, mortgage, and utility/ energy assistance payments on behalf of eligible applicants to legitimate landlords or vendors. Homeless or near homeless as defined by:

• Residing in a group shelter 

• Domestic violence shelter 

• Hotel or motel paid for with public or charitable funds 

• Mental health, drug or alcohol facility 

• Jail 

• Hospital with no place to reside 

• Living in a home but due to domestic violence, needs a safe place to reside 

• Living in a condemned building 

• Living in housing in which the physical environment presents the life and/or health-threatening conditions 

• Living on the streets, in cars, doorways, etc. 

• Have an eviction notice from a District Justice. 

 

Participation Requirements:

• Produce a copy of documentation of a District Justice eviction 

• Produce a copy of your DD-214

 

Follow-up period: Assistance to attain self-sufficiency is measured by retaining permanent housing for one year after being assisted.

In the Event the S.H.E.R.O. Initiative Program cannot provide assistance, we will refer you to community agencies, that are partners, to aid in assisting.

There is a $300 cap for assistance per family, per year. Although the max that can be provided is $300, that does not mean that you will qualify for the entire amount. Special circumstances will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

 

During this process you will be given an advocate/liaison. At that time, all communication will come from and come through your advocate. The advocate email address is SHEROassist@sheroagxi.org.
